*Mr. Liu graduated the LLM in Global Legal Practice and received a Certificate in Business Law in September 2024.

How did you find out about the LLM program, and what attracted you to pursue it?

I first became aware of the LLM program through social media. The curriculum, faculty, and the university's reputation were the main factors that attracted me to pursue it. The program is located in the Mita of Tokyo, where classes are taught by partners from international law firms and experienced faculty members. This unique combination has been incredibly beneficial for my academic and professional growth.

Please tell us about your most memorable class, along with the reason why.

My most memorable class was Japanese Law (Contemporary Issues), taught by Lecturer Jerry Carter. He was exceptional, making the content engaging and practical. His teaching style was tailored to the needs of the students, and he often shared Japanese desserts with us, which added a delightful cultural touch to the learning experience.

What do you enjoy about life at Keio?

I thoroughly enjoy every aspect of my time at Keio University. The faculty and classmates are incredibly friendly, and the courses are interesting and practical. The food in Japan is absolutely delicious, and the rich tourism resources around Tokyo have allowed me to explore many beautiful places. I've had the opportunity to visit destinations such as Hokkaido, Okinawa, Izu, Yokohama, Lake Kawaguchi, and Hakone, which have all been wonderful experiences.

What are your plans after you finish your studies at Keio? What do you think you will take with you from this experience?

I am currently interning at Huawei in China, handling the company's tax cases across various countries. I am immensely grateful for the knowledge I acquired at Keio, which has equipped me to handle international legal issues with confidence. This experience has also prepared me for the possibility of long-term overseas work in the future.

Any advice for prospective LLM students? How would you recommend the Keio LLM program to the students?

I would advise prospective LLM students to invest time in learning Japanese. This will enhance their academic experience and allow for a deeper immersion into Japanese culture. Additionally, the Keio LLM program offers the opportunity to apply for specialized certificates, such as the Business Law Certificate I pursued. I believe that having this certification will be a valuable asset in my future career, as it demonstrates a commitment to specialized knowledge and expertise in the field of business law. I highly recommend the Keio LLM program to students who are looking to gain a comprehensive legal education focusing on international business law.
